About Carlee Taylor

Carlee started go-karting at the age of 8yrs old after her mom had bought her and her sister a pony for Christmas. Her father quickly realized that both kids would be horse crazy before long so he bought Carlee her first go-kart, a used Top Kart 80cc, in February of 2005. On her first time out she knew that this was the sport for her! She had been bitten by the speed bug and wanted more!

That first year Carlee just practiced at Moran Raceway, which is only 20 minutes from her house, with the help of her dad, Mike, who jumped into the role as her mechanic and coach. The next year she started racing Novice Junior 1 at the Tri-C Club races at Moran. She raced in eight races that first year, trying to get some race experience and seat time. By the next year (2007), her dad decided it was time to introduce her to more competitive racing and they started going to more races, including Tri-C, LAKC, and her first IKF and Grand Nationals Races.

A big turning point came for Carlee over the summer of 2007 when her Dad enlisted the help of Alex Sanner, of Sanner Racing, who has helped Carlee in immeasurable ways with her driving, as well as helping her learn how to feel her Kart and what is needed to make it perform better, not to mention keeping her engines running fast. Since joining Sanner Racing Carlee has finished in the top 5 in almost all of her club races as well as earning her first two IKF trophies, 5th place in Junior 1 and 3rd place in Rookie Sportsman, and earning two 4th place trophies at the 2007 California State Championships for HPV-1 and Junior 1 in November.

It just goes to show that the right team makes all the difference!
